About Community First Credit Union

Delivering Member benefits for 50 years

Community First is a financially sound and well managed financial institution that has been in operation since 1959. As the largest community based credit union operating throughout the Sydney and Central Coast region, we aim to be an integral part of the communities in which our Members live and work.

Our 76,000 Members are part of the 4.5 million Australians who prefer to bank at a place that is not a bank at all...

A place with the products of a major bank, but with consistently better home loan rates and a place where profits go back into creating better products for Members.

The Community First difference is all about people helping people

As a mutual organisation Community First is not required to make large profits to pay dividends on shares. We deliver value to our Members as owners through superior service, an extensive range of products and competitive interest rates.

Community First provides a wide range of innovative products including home loans, personal loans, low rate VISA credit and debit cards, insurance and financial planning. Our savings and loans regularly appear in the Best Buy Tables of the major newspapers. Additionally, our home loans, personal loans and savings products have been regularly recognised over the years by the finance industry via awards such as Money Magazines Best of the Best, Your Mortgage Magazine and Financial Review Smart Investor Blue Ribbon Awards.

The McGrath Foundation

The McGrath Foundation was founded in 2002 by Jane McGrath after her initial recovery from breast cancer. After being re-diagnosed in 2003, Jane realised the importance of breast care nurses and the difference they made in the support they provided her. The two main objectives of the McGrath Foundation are to raise money to place breast care nurses in hospitals right across rural and regional Australia and to educate women to become breast aware.

The Foundation’s Executive Director, Tracy Bevan said, "The McGrath Foundation was established with two goals in mind – namely to raise funds to support the placement of McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia, while at the same time increasing breast awareness in younger women". "We’re incredibly pleased that Community First Credit Union has come on board as our friend in creating and issuing the McGrath Foundation Pink Visa card and only hope that people will see this as an easy way to get on board with an initiative that helps us continue our work. Always remember that together, we can make a difference.”
